Jamaican Snacks

10/30/2018

Growing up in Jamaica, snack was not freely given to kids as it is now. I remember growing up my mom would open a pack of two or three big foot and share it among us siblings. No one had their own pack to indulge in, not because we were poor but simple because my mom thought snacks were earned and placed a greater emphasis on us eating cooked meals or fruits.

I think it is this sense of always wanting more that caused me to develop a love and crave for snacks and have allowed Moses to indulge in snacking.

Jamaican snacks are uniquely flavored and have a reputation of consistency. The snacks from my childhood which are now featured in our products being sold, taste just the same as they did 29 years ago. While they do resemble some common/well known snacks found in other countries, there is a uniqueness to the flavors that hits your palates.

Among the snacks in Jamaica are a few rivals (friendly), St Mary's Banana Chips and Chippies Banana Chips, personally, I loooove Chippies while Moses Loooves St Mary's Banana Chips. If researched, one will find that Jamaicans have a loyalty to certain brands and flavors and no matter the alternative or competitive brand, few Jamaicans like myself will not switch. Not to say I don't eat St Mary's Banana Chips but I just love Chippies Banana Chips.

It is with this love for snacks that we created MoPackages with snacks between 6-7 per care package, because I know that a single serving of Jamaican snacks is not enough.

While many have admired our culture for its jerk chicken, festival, ackee and salted fish, many have shied away from indulging in our snacks for fear of what they may taste like. To help your taste buds, check out the review below where you get an idea of what some of our popular snacks taste like.

I absolutely enjoyed our vacation/honeymoon in Jamaica. While staying there we tried a few local dishes but we never had eaten snacks. In fact I do not remember seeing snacks. After seeing this video I really want to taste Jamaican snacks. Does the package come with the flag or is that a separate purchase? Really cool package.

I like that the snacks are almost same as in America. Wafer I can think of is Kit Kat which is my favorite. Would you think Tiki taste like Kit Kat or like totally different?

I love Kit Kat but in comparison to Tiki I think it’s very different in flavor. I think the Tiki is lighter in terms of the wafer
